About Victoria

Victoria is the capital city of the province of British Columbia. It is located on the south end of Vancouver Island, on the Pacific Ocean, on Canada's west coast. Victoria is a world-famous tourist destination and offers an unlimited array of things to see and experience.

Victoria, often called the "City of Gardens", has the mildest climate in Canada. Spring begins as early as February and the summers are warm and dry. Victoria is a medium-sized city of 350,000 people. It is safe, clean, and friendly, with beautiful scenery and a variety of recreational opportunities available year-round.

The city has two major universities, a community college, a world-class museum and IMAX theatre, a symphony, an opera company, professional theatre and dance companies, many golf courses and a major regional art gallery. The city is also home to world-class and Olympic rugby, field hockey, rowing, softball, basketball athletes, world-class sailing and diving locations, and professional and semi-professional sports teams.
