The Province of British Columbia is offering the H1N1 flu vaccine to all children ages 13 - 18 within the school system. Victoria International High School Programs believes this is a sound precautionary measure to ensure our international students are further protected from contracting the H1N1 virus.
In cases where VIHSP is the guardian, the program will be providing authorization for students to be vaccinated. Please inform us as soon as possible if you do not wish your child or children to receive the vaccination.
For those international students who wish to obtain the H1N1 flu vaccination, please call your local medical clinic or click here to visit the Vancouver Island Health Authority's website for locations where the H1N1 vaccination is being offered.
International students who have medical coverage by our private insurance provider, StudentGuard, will need to pay for the vaccination, as it is not covered under insurance. UPDATE: As of December 7, 2009, the cost of the H1N1 vaccine will be covered by StudentGuard. Please submit a receipt with your claim form.
Those students who have been in Canada longer than three (3) months and are covered by MSP will not need to pay for the H1N1 vaccination.
