Student Support
Comprehensive student support is available for the Academic High School Program.
Cultural Homestay Placement Officers
- Supports students in Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Korean, Spanish, and other languages.
- Assistance with adjustment to living with a Canadian host family.
- Translation and interpretation.
Academic
- All schools have first class laboratories, computers, and facilities.
- An International Student Program Adviser is in each school to give guidance to students about their academic studies and school activities.
Healthcare
- Students have access to a public health nurse at school.
- All students will receive BC public medical insurance (MSP), which provides access to the BC medical system.
Social
- All international students are encouraged to participate fully in their community by joining clubs, sports teams, and special school events like dances.
- The VIHSP office regularly organizes and supervises outings specifically for international students.
